Passing it down Author: Courtney WebbHometown: Yuma, ArizonaSince I was a little girl, my grandma would point out pieces of furniture to me and say "one day that will be in your home." She told me the story of every piece. Now, 5 years after her death, I can still look around my home and feel her with me. My bedroom set was her birthday present when she turned 18, the antique wardrobe that belonged to her father is in my sons' room, my couch she bought when she and my grandpa bought their first house, the same with my serving cart. I have the antique pictures handed down to her from her grandmother, the china my grandpa bought her when he forgot their aniversary one year, the small table decorations she cherished, and even have the little ceramic tea set she made me when I was 5. Everything has it's history and I just love that one day I can pass it on to my own children and grandchildren with just as much love as when she gave it to me. |
