Farm House Blessings Author: Judy BushHometown: WaynesboroThis farm house was on my daily route so I drove by it often. I always thought it would be so nice to live there. Then one day I noticed it was vacant so I called the owner who I just happened to know. He said I could move right in but it needed a lot of work; cleaning, painting, etc. Being single I was limited in what I could do but I got it fixed up and livable. Yet, the interior decorator in me yearned to have it remodeled and updated. I will never forget the day I walked up the country lane and prayed that God would grant me the opportunity to have a home that was warm, inviting and that reflected my style. I didn't ask for wealth or a mansion; I just asked for a few rooms simply decorated that I could enjoy and share with family and friends. As a believer in God's perfect timing, I faithfully waited and continued to make little improvements here and there as I could. Then after about five years, I met a wonderful man and we knew we were destined to be together. A few years later we were married and we started off our wonderful life together by making this old farm house into our home. My husband has a talent for searching out great deals so we did a lot of research and shopping to find the best deals. Then we were blessed to find a trusted contractor that did an unbelievable job for an amazing price. We are so proud of the results and that it was done on a budget. After three years, we have completed seven rooms and are in the process of completing the last room which is our Theater Room. A Theater Room in a farm house you say? That doesn't seem to fit; but we have been careful to fit the technology into the farm house style. You go up the original beautiful stair case and walk into the Theater Room that makes you feel like you've walked into an old time movie theater - including popcorn and Goobers. We are blessed in so many ways to be able to live in this home that reflects our faith and love, and enjoy the splendor of God's creation when we look out and see the sun rise and sun set, fields, woods, and mountains. Prayers do come true. |
